1. Introduction

Solvoto ("we", "us", "our") operates the Solvoto mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Anonymous Authentication Data

We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which creates a random unique identifier (UID) for your session. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any other personally identifiable information. The anonymous UID is used solely to associate your solution history with your device session.

2.2 Images You Capture

When you photograph a math problem, the image is:

Sent to our servers (Firebase Cloud Functions) for processing
Forwarded to the Google Gemini API for AI analysis
Stored in Firebase Cloud Storage associated with your anonymous UID

Images are stored solely to display your solution history within the App.

2.3 Solution Data

Solved problems (question text, step-by-step solutions, final answers) are stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your anonymous UID. Chat conversation messages between you and the AI tutor are processed in real-time but are not persisted on our servers after the session ends.

2.4 Analytics Data

We may use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as app opens, feature usage frequency, crash reports, and device type/OS version. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.

2.5 Subscription Data

If you purchase a premium subscription, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We only store your subscription status (premium or free) and remaining free solve count. We do not have access to your payment details.

3. How We Use Your Information

Provide and maintain the App's core functionality (solving math problems, displaying solution history)
Process math problems through AI (Google Gemini API)
Manage your subscription status and free solve allocation
Improve the App through anonymized analytics
Cache solved problems to improve response times for similar problems (using vector embeddings — no personal data is included in the cache)

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Google Firebase

Services used: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Analytics.

Data processed: Anonymous UID, solution data, images, anonymized analytics.

4.2 Google Gemini API

Used for AI-powered math problem solving and chat-based tutoring.

Data sent: Images of math problems (base64 encoded), text of follow-up questions.

5. Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests camera permission to photograph math problems. The App may also request photo library access to select existing images of math problems.

Camera and photo access is used exclusively for math problem capture. We do not access your camera or photos for any other purpose. You can revoke camera permission at any time through your device settings.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Your solution history and associated images are stored indefinitely to provide you access to past solutions.
Anonymous authentication sessions persist until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App.
Cached problem solutions (in the shared collection) are retained to improve service performance and contain no personally identifiable information.
You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at support@solvoto.com.

7. Data Security

All data transmission between the App and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
Firebase Security Rules restrict access so that users can only read their own data.
All write operations are performed exclusively through authenticated Cloud Functions (server-side), preventing unauthorized data modification.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed as an educational tool and may be used by students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone. Since we use anonymous authentication, no personal data is required to use the App.

9. Your Rights

Access: You can view all your stored solutions within the App.
Deletion: You can request deletion of all data associated with your anonymous UID by contacting support@solvoto.com.
Portability: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.
Opt-out of Analytics: You can disable analytics through your device's privacy settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
